"You can't fight a war, if you can't feed the poor."

Bloggin' 'round, found some interesting locations for y'all to check out.

This one has some snaps from a recent SF Protest - "You can't fight a war, if you can't feed the poor." I'll try and put one of my favorites on the next posting from the time I went down to a protest before the start of the Iraq-attack.

The other one is hard to take seriously, but interesting none-the-less given the large amount of discourse that centers on leaving the country for our fair neighbor, Canada. I thought it was interesting to read what they are saying on US out of SF.

Incidentially, this is not a new idea. Aaron McGruder, one of the smartest comic strip writers working today, wrote a nice quick read called Birth of a Nation. Speaks to all of the ills that folks have been feeling for a long time, and is funny doing it. Check it out. And, no I am not paid to mention this. I did purchase my own copy at the local college book store for twenty bucks when it first came out. I do recommend it to you.

Lastly, I don't know how I found this, but surfing around I found an interesting group called Citizens for Constitutional Government. Folks, you may not like them, but you will find it an interesting set of propositions.

Slice from the CCG:

"Unless the people, through unified action, arise and take charge of their government, they will find that their government has taken charge of them. Independence and liberty will be gone, and the general public will find itself in a condition of servitude to an aggregation of organized and selfish interest." Calvin Coolidge...Build a strong military including a missile defense system (peace through strength). NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use the military as an aggressive force (Kosovo). Bill Clinton is guilty of War Crimes and should be prosecuted along with his accomplices (the spineless Congress) for this insane assault upon a sovereign nation. "

End of slice:

Granted, their location has some dusty material in it, I wonder what the CCG would say about Bush, his administration, and the assault on Iraq?

Too late. The government has already been hijacked by the politicians, by gerrymandering districts into safe seats. Nomination is tantamount to election. Nomination is by the parties, not by the voters. Your choice is to vote, or not to vote, not for who will be elected.

Little ''d'' democratic government doesn't exist, if it ever did.

See: Scandal in the House on washingtonpost.com, November 04, 2004.

''The main cause of the incumbents' success is the country's scandalous system for designing voter districts. ... Pennsylvania's 19 districts, carved out by the Republican-controlled legislature, elected 12 Republicans on Tuesday -- even though Sen. John F. Kerry carried the state by more than 100,000 votes.''
One can only hope that the courts step up to correct this. The alternative is revolution. The politicians aren't going to reform themselves. Would you?

Red wedgieRichard Reich said, ''Welcome to the neo-sixties. They've found a replacement for race as a wedge. White bigotry has been less effective as a sure-fire winner for them (though still much more significant than is believed by a lot of people who should know better). Gay hatred will give them a good ride, probably not as durable a ride as white racism, but certainly as intense. And as a cute side-benefit it even attracts some of the people they supposedly just got over hating (blacks, hispanics) to their path.'' More ...
