Gays, Marriage and the Pope

Still awaiting (good thing I am not holding my breath on this) for a logical, plausable argument against gay marriage that doesn't involve some invocation of the bible or the possiblity that people will want to marry various pets or other non-human items as the rational to oppose it. Anyone?

Here's a fantastic post about our new Pope and his hypocritical stance. Thanks Rock City for pointing us to the location.

You're right Nedhead, marriage doesn't make you more in love, etc. But it does protect families with children, including same-sex parental rights, as well as partners' rights when one falls ill, immigration rights, and much more.

Certainly homosexuals do not require the sanction of the state to legitimize their love, but they do need the state to help protect it.

Similarly, I am still awaiting the plausable explaination as to what federal intervention is required to protect a heterosexual marriage. Any takers out there?
