Organized Religion

I found this pic on a yahoo news page - don't remember the link so I apologize for not hot synching it for you. I didn't take this shot - probably some AP person. These pictures show up every year about this time - for some kind of religious ceremony. Now, I'm not a big fan of organized religion, but this tradition would rule out this one for me. How about you?

Hmmm...

On a recent trip to Guatemala, I saw the knotted "cat-o-nine-tails" that St. Pedro Hermano used to beat himself with. He wore it as a belt during the day. Not sure there's any religion that doesn't strike me as flaggelation of the mental or physical kind.

I think more religious fundamentalists should be encouraged to adopt the activity in the picture. It would certainly bring them closer to God. Or whoever.

Hey, Windspike, once again I am dragging my lazy ass into the light and getting back to commenting like a true blue bloggin' foo! Still been a-readin' though.
