Many Different Ways Up - No Trails

Our destination was up and over this to Willow Hole from Rattle Snake Canyon. We brought a rope and harnesses but never really needed them.

Gorgeous piles of big-crystaled rocks!!! yeah, it is a difficulty, the abrasive nature of it; looking back, I wish I'd had bicycle gloves on when we were scrambling around. And maybe soccer shin guards...I incurred more damage to my limbs on the scrambling porions of our days than I did on the climbing!
Did you go up on ropes at all?

Bike gloves would have been smart. We weren't thinking that when we tackled them. My hands hurt for a few days afterward, not to mention the abrasions on the knees etc...

No ropes necessary - although we had one. Some times I felt like I needed the rope, but was travling with adventure racers - translation, nut jobs who have bigger cahones then me...so, they encouraged me right out of my comfort zone numerous times - no rope, but really, made the day very special as there were no casualties at all, including yours truly.
