I Thought the President was a "Culture of Life" Kind of Guy

Nope. I guess I am confused about the definition of "Culture of Lifer":
Q Thank you, Scott. Now that 1,000 convicts have been executed since the Supreme Court restored the death penalty, what is the President's view on capital punishment?

MR. McCLELLAN: The President strongly supports the death penalty, because he believes, ultimately, it helps save innocent lives. When it's administered fairly and swiftly and surely, it serves as a deterrent and it saves innocent lives. And that's why the President has been a strong supporter of it.

Why is it that the Rhetoric of these so-called "Culture of Lifers" stop at a woman's right to choose the destiny of her own fetus?

Grrr..i just left a big long comment and then my computer frozea and the internet elf ate my comment.

Well, I'll repeat my long gone comment in shorter form.

This president always makes sure that he makes his "culture of life" applies to a narrow set of people (or pre-born) by stating "innocent life" more often than not. That way he can torture people, execute people and so on.

I dont understand how he can justify placing more significance on the "life" of a fetus than on a child or person that has already been born. I maintain that it isn't about "life" or fetuses at all, but instead about control of women and maintaining the traditional family structure and gender roles. Keep in mind these guys arent just against abortion, they are against artificial methods of birth control. If you cant plan your pregnancy then its hard to compete with men in the work place and if sex outside of marriage is wrong then that only leaves traditional heterosexual marriage as an option.

It aint about life.

Great blog btw. If its ok I'm gonna ad you to my blogroll.

You know, windspike, in certain cases I support the death penalty, such as for government officials who are war criminals.

Whelp...I read what Stacy wrote and she is dead on..and I read the isabelita's comment..but I think I want the War Criminals to rot in a cold damp dark prison for a very long time....The Religous wingnuts always confuse me- Protect Life and the Spoon Girls with their Feed Terri Signs last spring, and yet they support the Death Penalty..I don't get it...it is a huge mindbender

Fairly and swiftly and surely, the three criteria are theoretical. Note the absence of 'guilty.' How may lives do theoretical processes save?

People who believe nonsense will do and say anything. The reasons given don't even enter the realm of plausibility.
