Oh, and if indeed "the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of democracy is the spirit of liberty," how and why is it that we are supposed to fight a war on a specific ideology with guns, bombs, etc?
Slice:
Today we must not forget the lessons of the past, and the lesson of this experience is clear: The most powerful weapon in the arsenal of democracy is the spirit of liberty...In the next day or so, I'm going to be dusting off a few "lessons from the past" that our president is neglecting.
...As freedom advances across a troubled part of the world, it is once again opposed by fanatical adherence of a murderous ideology....

Yeah, it's interesting. The people that the United States murdered, yes murdered, in their invasion of Iraq based on the fanatical adherence to the ideology of "spreading democracy" through war is somehow irrelevant? Or the murderous ideology of protecting American oil interests? The lessons of the past teach that the use of war and violence leads most of the time to more war and violence. If that weren't true, why after century upon century are we still going to war?

BushCo's rhetoric is so predictibly cliche that I am still floored that his supporters buy it. In fact, that BushCo is even willing to still keep saying such things is a laugh. I am constantly amazed...
