Lying with Statistics

It's easy to present a whole set of averages (mean, median, or mode) to skew your message. And, you can depend on folks to not bother to check your work if you provide the numbers in small print gathered in large charts. But you can't hide for too long. I have often said that the disparity between schools is atrocious. Here's an article that actually proves it:
Teachers working at San Francisco high schools serving mostly African American and Latino students will, on average, make $8,355 less per year than their more experienced counterparts at mostly white and Asian American high schools across town.
And you wonder why we have a difficult time attracting qualified teachers to work anywhere.
