Anyone Agree?

"This Republican Party of Lincoln has become a party of theocracy." U.S. Representative Christopher Shays, R-CT, (New York Times, March 23, 2005)

Got this from a link that Jet over at God Dem posted today.

Anyone care to debate the point?

I agree with it.

I truly wonder if today's "republican" is actually aware of what the traditional platform and ideology was? This second evil head grown out of the shoulder of it, swallowing it whole and kicking anyone out who doesn't agree with the new way of doing things is frightening to say the least.

typos corrected 8^)
I spent 2004 in a neighborhood populated with right-wing ditto-head Bush supporters. Their top three big campaign issues (in this order):

1. They hate immigrants.

2. They do not want to pay taxes (however, they all enjoy the benefits of other peoples' taxes).

3. They love the war, because they want a president who "is willing to go out in the world and kick some ass."

I moved.

Much as I Hate It, We Need a National ID

By Lamar Alexander
Washington Post

March 30th, 2005 - The House recently passed legislation requiring states to turn 190 million driver's licenses into national ID cards, with state taxpayers paying most of the cost.

The Republicans (F James Sensenbrenner, Jr; R-WI) will add their National Driver's License proposal to the $80b funding for Iraq. Alexander objects to that tactic, saying the proposal needs a full debate.

Show me your ''Real ID''

Real ID passed on the back of the $82b supplemental appropriation for Iraq.

Sensenbrenner and the rest of the Congress are so naive. ''Real ID'' will assure that when terrorists commander an aircraft they will have arrived on board with good ID. It will be yours. You, who had the misfortune of looking somewhat like the fellow carrying your ID, are dead, stuffed into the trunk of your car in the airport parking lot.

E. g: Smart keys that would only start one car. Great idea. Now, instead of stealing your car, you're carjacked at gun-point because the thief needs your keys.
