A Glimmer of Hope, Or More Political Machinations?

Given the history of the W, Rove and Co, is it possible to see a glimmer of hope?
The U.S. and Iran will hold rare meetings within the next few weeks in Baghdad to discuss the insurgency in Iraq, officials from the two nations said Sunday.

The talks, to be conducted between the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad and Iranian officials, would be the highest-level negotiations acknowledged between the two countries in recent years. The announcement suggested a new willingness on the part of the Bush administration to reach out to a longtime foe.
Could be the trek that Nancy Pelosi took a while back lead to this small thread of a bridge. I don't know. But as long as the W, Rove and Co is not announcing that they are authorizing the carpet bombing of Iran, it's a good step.

Even so, because just about everything the W, Rove and Co does has some kind of political ramifications, overtones or subtext, I can't help but be cynical about this move. Are they trying to divert our attention for some other egregious or nefarious action perpetrated by one of them (that is about to be leaked to the press)? I sure wish I could trust the W, Rove and Co. I really do. Unfortunately for us and them, their deeds speak louder than their rhetoric, and their deeds lead to a negative rather than positive cumulative affect, in my book.
