No wonder the republicans are complaining about "activist" judges. They know full well that even SCOTUS appointments are not beyond the reach of corruption - or at least spurious behavior:

Eisenhower's press secretary would release a summary of what the President did during the week on the weekend, to offset the weekend photos of the President playing golf. If the President did two or three things during the week, that was a lot.
The problem with Bush may be that he doesn't spend enough time out of the office. When he's there, he's thinking up weirdness to inflict on the public.
